At Amsterdam Hbo Business School, students learn from and through hands-on experience.
In our BBA business program, we place a strong emphasis on practical experience.
We bridge the gap between education and the business world. Our focus is on practical experience. Business serves as our starting point. Every day, our instructors—entrepreneurs and professionals—share their real-world experiences. Every week, we hold a “Business Experience” during which we visit a company. During a company visit, students are introduced to the work, the atmosphere, and the opportunities in the sector. They experience how different professions fit together within a company and gain insight into business processes.
Every month, there is a Business Week. Every year, there is a Business Trip and an internship.
You learn by applying knowledge. By applying the course material in practice in a way that truly benefits a company. That is why IBHS has chosen to place a strong emphasis on hands-on learning. This is reflected in course assignments, projects, practical activities, internships, and phase-based assignments.

2023 Student Project: EV Charging Points—Allego x IBHS-Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences Business School
Students learn from and through hands-on experience. Collaboration between the business community and the education sector is part of corporate social responsibility. Our students carried out a major project for Allego Benelux that had a significant learning impact. Ahead of the final presentation and evaluation, here’s a short introductory video.
IBHS Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences Business School Business Trip 2023 Vietnam
The 2023 Vietnam Business Trip was an immersion in international business. Eleven companies, 22 sites, and a host of interesting people bridged the gap between theory and practice. The result: a broader view of the world, inspiration, new insights, and plenty of great stories!
Vosges
Visit to Voges Packaging
Our students visited Voges Verpakkingen in Hillegom. This company designs and manufactures specialized packaging, including for the distribution of plants—for example, for shipping.
Their perspective on the use of plastic was particularly enlightening. Their TNO study shows that the rPET packaging they use has a much lower environmental impact than cardboard. Albert Voges, the owner, demonstrated that the plastics they use—and how they use them—have the least environmental impact. It was an eye-opener for our students. This is why the IBHS places great value on company visits.

Visit to All Rent ICT Solutions
Our students visited All Rent IT & AV Solutions. This wonderful company provides a full range of IT and AV solutions for the business market. It is a company with an exceptionally high standard of service, known in the market for its comprehensive product lineup and excellent customer service. We were warmly welcomed by Malin van der Hart, the marketing manager.
She walked our students through the challenges of brand awareness and positioning. It was a great, practical lesson in customer focus, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to the customers.

Visit to NNEK
Recently, our IBHS college students paid a company visit to NNEK, an asset management firm with offices in Groningen and Amsterdam.
NNEK is active on several fronts to enhance the professionalism of the field and promote financial literacy among young people.
Over the course of two hours, the NNEK outlined its vision for modern asset management; “socially responsible investing” is the term they use for sustainable investing.
This aligns perfectly with the “Finance” course and with the IBHS’s vision: “New Thinking.” Investing while still acting responsibly toward the environment and society.
The stories, practical tips, and experiences that students gain during their company visits aren’t found in their textbooks.

A visit to Heerema in Leiden. Engineering and business come together. A story about innovation and partnerships in the offshore industry and the maritime energy transition for our business students.

Our business experience at LTP Import Export in Hoofddorp. The power of global supply chains, trade as a bridge between Asia and Europe: a must for our international business administration students and a great introduction to our study trip.
